Welcome to BeachLife4Kidz

The whole idea of this site is that it has information useful for children or parents of children who want to spend time at the beach. A lot of the articles are sent in by the children themselves.

I think this beach is a good one because it has sand to play on, rocks to climb on and pools to fish in. It also has grass above the tide line so you can always do something.

Burning volcano

Create a burning volcano on the beach. Note: this must be undertaken with adult help.

Beach flags

The flags:
  • Red and Yellow flags - Swimmers and bodyboarders between these.
  • Black and White flags - surf craft only between these.
  • Red flags - DANGER - No one is allowed in the sea.
  • Keep an eye out for other signs and notices.

Advice:

  • Listen to Lifeguards
  • Don't go in the sea on your own.
  • Always stay in sight of friends and family on the beach.
  • Always watch the surf for 10 minutes before you go in.
  • Know what times the tides are.
  • Never jump off rocks into the sea.
  • Get out of the water when you start to feel cold.
  • If you get into trouble, wave your arm above your head to get help.
The Good Beach Guide is published by the Marine Conservation Society (MCS) - the UK charity dedicated to the protection of our seas, shores and wildlife. It is one of the biggest beach guides available with a description, photo and map for each of 1,200 beaches in the UK and Ireland.

Check the weather forecast, tides and currents before you set off

Local information is available online, for example in the UK the Met Office (www.metoffice.com) and www.bbc.co.uk/weather and www.bbc.co.uk/weather/coast/tides/. Local tourist information offices and newsagents in coastal locations keep tide timetables.
